Nissan's Wonder Car Sunny Takes It To Great Height

Nissan Motor India Private Ltd has recorded its best ever sales performance in a month after selling 5,371 vehicles in February 2012. The Japanese carmaker has said its February sales had in fact jumped up by a massive 158 per cent. The main contributor to this success is the Sunny sedan.

Nissan had sold about 2,081 vehicles in February 2011. The Micra had been its best selling model until the arrival of the Sunny diesel. Nissan has said it sold 3,130 units of the Sunny in February indicating the new sedan's dominance in Nissan's ranks.

The Nissan Micra's sales stood at 2,198 units. There is only a slight increase in the Micra's sales when compared to February 2011's sales of 2030 units. It is another matter that the Micra was probably the only car that sold well for Nissan last year.

Mr Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. While commenting about February sales said: “I’m delighted to see Nissan achieve our highest ever monthly sales total in India. This result reflects the growing acceptance of Nissan cars amongst Indian customers and is something we want to build on. It is particularly satisfying to see Sunny and Micra – both models built in India, for India – are proving to be amongst the most preferred cars in their respective segments.”

Nissan also sells the 370Z sports car (read test drive review here), Teana and the X-Trail SUV. All the three models are imported as CBUs from Japan.
