Bangalore Vintage Cars To Take Part In US Show

The Concours d’Elegance show in California is one of the most popular auto festivals in the world which has been carried on from 1950. It is the 62th edition of the show in 2012 and interestingly, this is the first time, cars owners from India have been invited to the festival.
Apart from Ravi Prakash, three other Indians; the Maharaja of Udaipur Shriji, advocate Diljeet Titus from Delhi, and another vintage car enthusiast from Mumbai have been honoured with the invitation to take part in the mammoth show. “It is a dream come true for me. Getting invited to the festival is a great honour,” said Ravi.
Ravi Prakash commented: “It is tough to get an entry there. The organizers receive a mammoth 7,000 applications each year from car owners across the globe, and at the end, shortlist 150-200 of them. This year, they zeroed in on 180 cars.” Adding glitz to the festival, events like a car competition, an auction, a classic car tour and an automotive car exhibition will be held at the show.
More into the proud Bangalore owner of the vintage cars, Ravi Prakash is the secretary of Karnataka Vintage and Classic Car Club. His cars have been kept at his farm house at Mysore Road, suburban Bangalore.
Ravi's collection of cars include a Jaguar (1962 make), which formerly belonged to the Maharaja of Udaipur; Condulett (of Italian origin) which belonged to the Maharaja of Kutch; Dialmer (1947 make), Rocker 88 of US origin, Ford, Sunbeam, Mercedes Benz and others.
Many of his vintage cars have been featured in a few Kannada and Tamil films as well. Meanwhile, the cars will be shipped to California via Singapore in June.
