Polo, Vento Drive Volkswagen To The Road Of Success
The German car maker Volkswagen entered into the new road of sale success duly aided by its Vento and Polo vehicles. What is peculiar with Volkswagen is that it achieved this feat after entering the fray late even than its ally Skoda. Volkswagen secured the sales volume of 42000 units in 2010, reflecting 10 times growth. It anticipates the growth of the Indian auto industry by 12-16% during 2011 and is on the verge of making higher growth than this.
The Member of the Board, Director, Passenger Cars of Volkswagen said the plant which has the capacity of 110000 annual units will deliver more units than the growth. He further mentioned that the sales growth in 2010 was chiefly due to the movement of its compact car Polo and Vento, whose price tag stood at Rs5.30 lakh as the minimum. He refused to divulge on the possibility of Volkswagen (VW) offering any small car to counter the promotions of Maruti Alto, Ford Figo.
