Volkswagen"s presence in the Indian car market has seen a rise of 10 fold during January 2011 with 5601 units comprising its flagship models Polo hatchback and Vento premium sedan. The sale volume during the corresponding month of 2010 was a paltry 383 units. The company"s Group Sales Director said it was pleased to witness such a continued growth in this year too.

He expressed the hope to carry on the spirit by strengthening the status in the volume of its models and good growth rate in the premium models. VW"s other premium range in the Indian car market are Passat and Jetta which are assembled in its Aurangabad facility. New Beetle, Touareg, Phaeton SUVs are other models.
