Volkswagen Group Half Yearly Sales Impress

German car conglomerate Volkswagen's success story continues to impress. Sales of Volkswagen Group's Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda brands have reached 55,091 units for the first six months of this year. This is quite impressive considering the carmaker had sold 17,367 cars during the first half of the previous year.

Volkswagen India has definitely benefited by the launch of the Vento sedan. The Polo based Vento has performed much above expectations and is Volkswagen India's second highest selling model. The Polo also has had its fair share of success. Volkswagen's other model in India, the Passat has also been received well. Volkswagen India's cumulative sales are at 37,678 units.

Volkswagen's luxury car brand Audi has also seen sales increase considerably. Audi has so far sold 2,802 cars this year. The German luxury carmaker has launched three new models this year.

Volkswagen's bread and butter in India, Skoda has also performed impressively with 14,611 sales delivering a 50 per cent increase in sales.

Dr John Chacko, President & Managing Director, Volkswagen India while speaking about the company's half yearly sales said: “The progress in sales figures show the building confidence of our customers in our products across the three brands Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen."
