Truck Sales Increased In June

The Indian Foundation of Transport Research and Training (IFTRT) has revealed that truck sales in June had increased by 10.5 per cent. Sales of light commercial vehicles had increased by 25.8 per cent, intermediate trucks sales rose by 19.4 per cent and sales of multi axle vehicle increased by five per cent.
Sales of commercial vehicles went up 7.8 per cent at 74,324 units during April-June 2011 when compared with 68,956 units in the same period previous fiscal. During June this year, volumes went up 10.5 per cent at 27,062 units as against 24,481units in May 2010.
This increasing truck sales is a clear indication of commercial vehicles continuing to support the Indian auto sector. Car sales have not been very encouraging in June.
Tata Motors, one of India's highest selling commercial vehicle manufacturer said the first quarter of the year was usually the slowest. It is concerned about increasing interest rates and has refused to make any prediction for future sales.
However, the commercial road transport industry is optimistic that sustained economic growth and an impetus in the import-export trade and agriculture sector will increase sustained cargo in the medium and long run, pointed out IFTRT.
