Toyota Small Cars On The Way?

Having been severely hit by several recalls of its units, the Japanese car maker Toyota is brushing its strategy to roll out a small car (low cost car) from its Indonesian facility. The company may, in the event, focus this car on the fast growing Asian market and the company"s wing Daihatsu will take care of this small car venture. It is said the new car will be positioned below Etios at 50 -740. Daihatsu is an expert in mini vehicles and is a holder of 51% inToyota and is to invest 20 billion yen for delivering 1 lakh annual units of this small car.

The car will be made in the facility of Indonesia and 70% of the volume will go to Toyota. During the first year of production in 2013, Daihatsu will make 50000 units. With this venture, Toyota aims to make the Indonesia facility as its second largest production plant in SE Asia ( next to Thailand). The strategy among the car makers in entering into the new production plants is based on first come take advantage and Toyota"s Indonesia plant may make a new initiative in the region.
