Toyota On Recall Spree Of Its 9 Million Vehicles

By By: Vicky.in

The Japanese car maker Toyota has now made up its mind to recall 9 million vehicles coming under the period of late 2009 and February 2010. The lion"s share of such recall was found in the US market leading to the revenue loss of billion and fall in the normal sale volume, said the company report.

In the meantime, Honda motors too had to recall its City sedan for defective engine component which raised many eyebrows particularly the owners of this sedan. This recall in India makes the company"s total recall of 6 million units globally. The number, according to the company"s report, included 167000 units of Freed and Fit models marketed in its home land.

The recall would have a deep sojourn on 22000 0 units in Asia and 156000 units in China. The Indian car market is growing at 30% but there are cases of such recall as happened from Maruti"s A-Star numbering about 40000 units in 2010 for fuel tank defect. Tata Motors too faced problems with its world cheapest car Nano which involved in more than three fire incidents.

However Tata did not make any recall instead asked the customers to have a complete check. The recall in the Indian car market came from Maruti Suzuki some ten years ago when it made such announcement for its Zen for the defective steering.
