Aging is a prone to mental sickness not only to human being but also to the creators of auto products too. During 2010, the Japanese car maker Toyota was put in a critical stature regarding its brand image caused by intermittent recalls of its product. The company faced financial losses due to the penalties and legal implications. The current problem for Toyota is the existing models in its portfolio after undergoing the first decade of this century. The company, through its dealers in the US had good times selling the cars backed by the company image and brand recognition. Amidst this fortune came the misfortune by way of recalls too, shattering the built reputation.

The dusk of 2010 was a bad phase for the company as it could see its sale of Camry fall by 10% in December compared to a year ago. Corolla too disappointed Toyota with the fall of 35% and already the alarming bells are ringing for its Camry which may lose its supremacy won in the last ten years. In the event it may have to lose the title to Honda Accord. The director of Edmunds.com stated that Toyota"s worst problem is boring cars that it can not save itself from losing the ground in brand reputation built on safety aspects. Now the safety of Toyota in terms of stature is at stake, he added.

This version was acknowledged by the CEO Akia Toyoda claiming that Toyota has been on the design crossroads. He recalled his remarks to the dealers about his intention to refine the models with new styles, exteriors and innovative looks. Toyota"s position after 2007 was in exile when the company let the Japan executives decide on the design of its products meant for the US market. However, this could not bring the desired result as in the case of Ford, GM or Hyundai who have moved rapidly into new design plethora to regain volumes in the US market.
