Toyota Halts The Liva Launch, Why?

This was disclosed by the company"s DMD for Marketing who acknowledged the thumping response posed to Etios sedan since its launch in December 2010. He added that the facility in Bangalore will be given second shift from April to reduce the waiting period of 4-6 months. There have been 26500 orders for Etios since December last of which the company could deliver just 5000 units so far.
The company has affirmed to clear the pending orders on top priority he said which has made the company to put off the launch of Liva 1.2 lit petrol version to June. For erecting the second facility in Bangalore facility TKM has invested Rs3200 crore by which the net yield would be 70000 annual units of Etios 1.5 lit petrol version. The first facility has the capacity of 80000 annual units. Etios is currently offered at Rs4.96 lakhs - Rs6.86 lakhs to counter Maruti DZire, Fiat Linea and Mahindra"s Logan.
He said the company has no other option about the pricing of the vehicles against the increase in commodity prices. And any price revision will come off during March -April.
The company had assured to have the target of 70000 units for the Indian market. He further mentioned that the company has received 4000 units of order for Fortuner since the booking from this Jaunaury and the waiting period is 3-4 months. In addition TKM deals the Indian market with its Corolla Altis sedan, Camry sedan, Land Cruiser, Prado SUV, and the hybrid Prius and all of them are fully imported units.
