Toyota Kiloskar To Boost Production
The move by Toyota Kiloskar to boost production is to reduce the backlogs of Etios and after that the annual capacity of Innova, Corolla Altis, Fortuner to be increased to 90000 units from the current 80000 units. The demand will be met with in the Q3 of 2011, it is learnt. Toyota has devoted the second plant exclusively for manufacturing Etios and this facility will have the annual production capacity of 120000 units from the current 70000 units. This volume will comprise 20000 units of Corolla Altis to be shifted from the first plant during the first half of 2012.
The Toyota Kiloskar boost in production will go from this July to Q2 of 2012 on phases. The company"s MD said there has been a dominant rise for Innova and Fortuner in recent months and so is the waiting period for these cars. The demand in the company"s brands has been furthered by the recent launch of Etios. Thus the need has arisen to meet the demand of the customers to clear the waiting volumes. The Deputy Managing Director for TKM said the company has devised plans to reduce the waiting period for Etios by enhancing the production and putting off the launch of Etios Liva. Also is the postponement of the opening ceremony of the second plant in Bidadi (slated for March15 instant) in the wake of earthquake and tsunami in its home country.
