Calm After Storm For Toyota And Nissan

The tragic turmoil out of the recent earthquake and tsunami has had a devastating impact on the lives of Japan. Now a sigh of relief has come to the business houses in automotive sector as Toyota, Nissan and Mitsubishi have resumed their least work in their plants. Yet, the full-fledged work will come off later it is known. The disaster has washed off the hopes and prospects of component vendors hitting a major blow to the Toyota and Nissan companies.

The disruption of power has been a major concern to have normal life. The direct sufferers are the Indian subsidiaries for these companies who ever depend the apex companies for the parts and components in addition to technology know-how. Toyota has just reopened its seven plants which have been closed since March 11 while 21 plants will be decided on March 22.

Apart from Toyota, even Nissan and its affiliate has reopened one plant today. Nissan is said to reopen another tomorrow and two more on Sunday. Another one will operate on partial work and the fate of the sixth plant is not yet known. The three plants in central and western Japan belonging to Mitsubishi have been reopened and will see that the production units come off. Other major players Honda and Suzuki are yet to reopen their plants of which Honda and Mazda claimed that their plants will be closed till March 20. Suzuki is to take decision on Monday.
