Diesel Nano Set To Be launched in September

The sales of the Nano have not been very encouraging with sales dipping 64 per cent in July. In a bid to boost the image of the Nano Tata Motors has also decided to launch Nano specific showrooms to attract buyers. The diesel Nano will surely create a heightened interest in the Nano and help boost sales.
The diesel Nano can be expected to be priced slightly higher than the petrol variant. Usually there is price premium of Rs.1 lakh between a regular petrol hatchback and its diesel variant. If Tata Motors decides to maintain the same price difference between the petrol and diesel Nanos, the high end version will cost upwards of Rs.3 lakhs. But reports say the diesel nano will carry a price tag anywhere between Rs.2 lakhs and Rs.2.4 lakhs.
Tata Motors is already the maker of India's most fuel efficient car with the Tata Indica ev2 which has an advertised mileage of 25kmpl. If earlier reports about the diesel ano's mileage are true that the Indica ev2 will be replaced by the diesel Nano with its fuel economy of a whopping 40kmpl.
Tata Motors is keen to make the diesel Nano safer and comfortable to ensure high sales. Tata Motors is yet to make official announcement on the launch of the diesel Nano. We had earlier reported that Bosch, the auto parts maker was developing the diesel engine for the Nano.
