Tata Motors to slash Nano Prices After sales Fall!
The Tata Nano small car has been the dream project of Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata. The car was launched with a starting price of Rs 1 lakh and the price soon shot up. The high end LX version now costs Rs.2.36 lakhs, which is at least double than the initial price.
The festive season is also another reason for the discount. With several new cars set to be launched and other carmakers also offering discounts Tata Motors also wants to take advantage of the festive season.
The discounts for the three variants of the Nano are as follows:
Nano (standard) Previous Price : Rs. 1.74 lakh Price After Discount : Rs. 1.59 lakh (Rs. 15,000 off)
Tata Nano CX Previous Price : Rs. 2.06 lakh Price After Discount : Rs. 1.86 lakh (Rs. 20,000 off)
Tata Nano LX Previous Price : Rs. 2.36 lakh Price After Discount : Rs. 2.16 lakh (Rs. 20,000 off)
The Tata Nano has also faced some criticism after its launch. While there were some complaints about its reliability, the instances of the car catching fire was a huge blow. The Nano which was expected to be Tata motors' best selling car has not lived up to its expectations.
R Ramakrishnan, Vice-President, passenger car business unit of Tata Motors while speaking about the Nano had said: "We are still at the early stages of understanding the market. We are going through a learning curve and are trying a lot of different things in marketing activities, like selling the car through Big Bazaar outlets."
