Tata Motors Disappointment Over Delivery Of Nano
They were supposed to have been delivered with Nano in 2010 but so far the company has delivered 77000 units only as in December 2010. However, the company has announced the open sale of Nano through outlets from August 2010. Incidentally many of the selected customers are not willing to take the delivery of the car, said an official of the company.
He said many customers are contemplating of cancellation while some people have not yet decided taking the delivery. The open sale of Nano started once the Sanand facility commenced the production with the capacity of 2.5 annual units capacity. Tata Motors faced a dismal show of Nano sale in November when it could sell just 509 units against sale of 5784 units in December 2009, which was 9000 units in July 2010. The fall in its sale was mainly due to the fire incidents in electric circuits.
Sensing the trouble Tata Motors has announced a series of offers to increase the sale of Nano. Tata asked the owners to have a free safety check of the car and announced an extension of warranty to 60000km/ 4 years. As of now, the company has recovered from the production constraint, said the official, after undergoing a shift of unit from Singur to Sanand. In another move, the company had to keep the price tag under promise, as the first one lakh customers are eligible for Rs1 lakh category while the revised price will have a rise by 3-4 %, with the current price of Rs1.38- Rs1.89 lakh.
