Will Tata Dolphin Compete With WagonR?
Although real world images of the concept are not available, our sources say the car will look very similar to the image provided. The Tata Dolphin (sic) will be available with both petrol and diesel engines. The diesel powertrain displaces 800cc and it will not be the same as in the soon to be launched Nano diesel. Tata Motors' much awaited Nano diesel will be powered by a turbocharged engine that has already been used in the Tata Ace. Details about the petrol engine of the Dolphin are not available. According to sources, the Tata Dolphin's diesel engine is strikingly similar to the CRDI engine found in the Indica.
The Tata Dolphin concept will offer performance levels similar to that of the Wagon R and Tata hopes it can propel it towards bigger volumes. The tata dolphin concept might be placed below the Tata Indica or replace it completely. The Indica has been in the market for over a decade a a replacement is not unexpected. Tata Motors' latest concept might compete with the Maruti Wagon R as well as the Alto.
