Tata To Migrate Its Indica Electric To UK
Tata plans to launch this vehicle in the ensuing summer to reach a sizable segment of customers. The engineers at its UK facility Tata Motors European Technical Centre designed this electric version of Indica Vista. Yet the company derived the body shells from its homeland India and the final marketing price of the car would come around Rs14.33 lakhs which includes subsidy for the electric cars, Rs3.5 lakhs. However, the official pricing is yet to be announced by the company.
Tata Motors has already finished 40 units of Indica Vista electric in the first phase from which 25 units have been delivered. Tata designed this car to run 100 miles on its full charge at the cost of Rs107. The head, for the manufacturing unit said the Indica Vista is a 4-seater hatchback having sufficient space for luggage which is uncommon in electric vehicles. The car can have the top speed of 114 km/hr on average acceleration with the speed range of 160km. He said the car with this speed and space for luggage is a testament for the efficiency of electric vehicle.
The lithium-ion battery is manufactured by Miljobil Innvoasion which is a subsidiary of TMETC of Norway. Tata is to tap the customers for this electric vehicle from business and fleet operators in the UK. To reach the mass, the company is to penetrate with substantial customer cluster and after sales program. The company said it is not for volumes of the car for the first two or three years. The inadequate infrastructures in the domestic plants made the company to put off manufacture in India.
