Skoda Sales On An Upswing; Posts 100% Growth

Skoda India, the Czech carmaker has reported a 100 per cent increase in sales for May. The carmaker sold 2,761 units in May 2011 as against the 1,381 cars it sold in May 2010. The Skoda Fabia was the primary reason behind Skoda India sales.

Thomas Kuehl, Skoda India, Board Member (Sales and Marketing) said: "We are very happy to announce a 100 per cent sales growth for the month of May, 2011. We are complementing our increasing sales with a rapid expansion of our dealership across the country. With a firm commitment towards being leaders in our segment, we are confident of continuing our growth."

Skoda India recently opened its third dealership in Delhi and plans to open similar dealership across India. The Czech auto major has set its elf a target of doubling its global sales to 1.5 million units by 2018. Skoda is considering India as a major contributor to its sales.
