Shanghai Auto Show Is The “Order Of The Day”

China has shown its might in the auto foray over the years and the current talk of the day is the Auto Show in Shanghai. The show has given platform for all the CEOs of major automobile giants with GM"s CEO to deliver his address in his hometown New York. The CEO of Toyota Motor, CEO of Renault- Nissan and the CEO of VW are all in hectic activities to mark the presence in a pompous manner. There has been a chief significance in gathering the CEOs of the companies to the world"s thickly populated nation. China"s auto market saw the sale of 17.2 million vehicles in 2010 by which the country enjoys 50% higher volume than the US, to be rated as the top most country for automobiles in the world. Moreover, the rate of car ownership in China is 14 times more than found in the US.

Yet the controversial statement has come from the marketing chief of Ford Motor who remarked that China has been witnessing the reversal of its fortune as its market has started sinking. But he praised the Shanghai Auto show 2011 as the most prominent event for his career. He cited the improvements in the China auto technology which forays into electric and hybrid versions.

The CEO of Ford will however make up his mind in attending this show while VW has slated the redefined version of its Beetle in this show. The car was on display at the shows in New York and Berlin and four of Audi"s executive board members are on flight to the show. The company is much keen on focusing its Q3 SUV to the world and CEO of Volvo cars expressed his wonder about the growth of automobile in China much against prediction a decade ago. He amazingly recalled his association with the Asia Pacific and China region when he could not even imagine the volume of China, 3- 3.5 million which happens to be the size of German car market.

The China auto market has the volume of 13 million passenger cars and 17 million commercial vehicles. The President of SAIC said the Shanghai Auto show event is receiving more and more prominence in recent years. The company has its joint ventures with VW and GM to be the largest in car manufacturing in China. The luxury cars gain popularity in China despite the decline in overall sale volume of cars in the country. The CEO of Daimler AG said Shanghai Auto show has pulled in the top most executives of the auto makers in the world. The event has set the pace in severe competition for availing space for commercials in local newspapers like China Daily. The major hallmark of the Shanghai Auto show 2011 is the last minute addition of Toyota Toyoda.
