Sachin's Ferrari Modena 360 Sold To Surat Based Businessman
The Ferrari Modena 360 was presented Sachin Tendulkar by Formula 1 great Michael Schumacher in 2002. Sachin was very impressed by the car's performance and is said to have driven it only occasionally. Sachin had earlier said he liked fast cars and had little chance of driving them in India. He used to take short drives during the wee hours of the night in Mumbai once in a while. It is not yet clear why the Indian cricketer decided to sell his Ferrari.
Mr Desai has said Sachin did not want to part with his Ferrari initially. However after his continuous requests he accepted to give away his priced possession. The price would have cost Rs. 2 crore when new. It is said that Mr Desai has paid Sachin Tendulkar Rs.1.2 crores. Mr Desai has said Sachin's Ferrari is as good as new. It has been driven for about 8,000 kilometres.
Sachin's Ferrari has had its fair share of controversies. The cricketer had initially sought an exemption from import tax for the Modena 360. The Indian government had refused his request the media had made huge issue out of it. Finally Fiat, which owns Ferrari, accepted to pay the 110 per cent import tax.
