Proton Seeks Indian Partnership

By By: Vicky.in

By making a strong penetration into the Indian auto market, the Malaysian company Proton is in search of a right partner to run the show. The Malaysian company is quite aware of the equally competitive spirit induced by the local players and is hopeful of emanating an individual presence. These remarks were outpoured by the Malaysian Deputy Minister for International Trade and Industry. He disclosed that Proton will enter into the Indian car market initially with least volume of vehicles and would seek the Indian partnership from any company to continue the marketing in a large scale with necessary investment and service provisions. He said these aspects play a prominent role in the highly competitive Indian auto market.

The implementation of free trade agreement next year would see the remarkable penetration into the market. Proton was a brainchild of the then Prime Minister in 1983 which had no competitor until Perodua established ten years later. Proton"s presence is seen in the markets of the UK, Australia and South Africa and certain lands of the West Asia. In all these regions the company has established its deep impact over the years.
