Porsche To Launch 500 Units More This Year

Following on the footsteps of other major luxury car makers in India, the German car maker Porsche is targeting to sell 500 units this year. This could account for five times more than its sale volume of last year and in addition there will be expansion of its network to make up its rise in the market. The CEO of Precision Cars India Ltd said Porsche"s sale volume will be around 500 from the last year"s 131 based on the bookings made as on February end- 217 units.

Precision Cars is the authentic importer and distributor for Porsche cars in India and it will be aided by the company"s expedition of delivery. Currently the waiting period of Cayenne SUV is 500 days and 100 days for sports car models, he added. The company"s capacity is around 1 lakh annual units meeting the demands globally and the cars are being shipped from its facility in Germany. The company has orders from the global markets to the tune of 74000 units against the production capacity of 44000 units.

The expansion activity is focused to Bangalore, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Kochi in addition to New Delhi. The CEO specified that the dealers would be able to meet the break even in another three years as the prospective customers hail in the age group of 35-45. He expressed his amazement over the children playing an interesting role in deciding the color of the car and accessories. The official from Porsche remarked that the Indian market will become an important one in the long run, after China which is currently the major avenue for the company in Asia. China market gets the sale volume of nearly 20000 units per year while the rest of Asia constitute 4000 units apart from 7000 units in the African market.
