Porsche Planning New Model Above Carrera GT2 RS

Porsche 918 Spyder
German sports car maker Porsche is planning to expand its model line-up with a model that will be placed between the Carrera GT2 RS and the more expensive 918 Spyder hybrid super car. The Carrera GT2 RS is a race inspired sports car and costs 237,000 Euros. The 918 Spyder is the next expensive model from Porsche and it costs a whopping 768,000 Euros.

With such a price difference between its two most expensive models, Porsche has decided that it needs a model to fill this gap and has already started working on a concept. Bernhard Maier, Porsche"s sales chief said: “We"re currently examining what options can be derived from this. There already are initial ideas that look very promising on paper."

Porsche wants to build more supercar models as they offer better margins that the volume selling models such as the Porsche 911. If Mr Maier's statement is taken into account, Porsche might have already built test concepts. A full sized concept could be displayed during a high profile auto show. Porsche will also launch the all new 911 sports car along with upgraded versions of the Cayman and Boxster.
