Petrol And Diesel Cars - Which Is The Best Choice?

Petrol Vs Diesel
The recent fuel price hikes have again brought to the fore the argument of choosing between a petrol car and a diesel car. While both type of cars offer their own distinct advantages an individual needs to understand one's requirements and then make a choice. While a petrol car is cheaper to buy, it runs on a pricier fuel. A diesel car on the other hand is pricier to buy and runs on a cheaper fuel.

Petrol car sales have always been more than diesel car sales inmost countries. Petrol is a cleaner fuel to burn and offers better performance. A diesel car on the other hand has more carbon molecules in it and hence it is more polluting.

Petrol is also a neat fuel to work with. Building a petrol engine is easier than a diesel engine. The mechanicals of a diesel engine is more complicated and requires more work. This is the reason why diesel cars are expensive than petrol.

Diesel cars catch up with the initial high price by offering better fuel economy than petrol. A diesel car buyer can recover the initial cost premium of his car within three to four years.

An advantage of petrol cars is the higher resale value when compared with a diesel cars. Diesel cars depreciate more due to the high maintenance cost involved in used cars.

We will be updating the argument over petrol and diesel cars in the coming days. Your comments are welcome.
