Nissan Establishes Its Corporate Office In Chennai

To have more accessibility to its manufacturing facility in Chennai, the Japanese car giant Nissan has shifted its corporate office to the city limits of Chennai. The premises in the area of 13500 sq feet and the MD and CEO of Nissan claimed that this marked the new milestone for the company. The premise will accommodate program management team officials, personnel belonging to product planning, corporate planning, exports, finance, human resource activities, communication and after sales. He added that this office will serve the company"s aim of growing operations in the country and have synergies with its partner Renault which has its corporate office in the same complex.

These two companies executed an MoU with the Tamilnadu government in 2008 for erecting a manufacturing facility in the state, Oragadam at an investment of Rs4500 crore. After 21 months of this MoU, the facility started its operations with the initial capacity of 2 lakh annual units expandable to 4 lakh annual units once it gets full capacity. Nissan has its office in Mumbai and it will continue to function as the regional office having limited employees representing planning, homologation, aftersales, fellows from Hover Automotive India, for marketing and dealer regulations in the country.
