Nissan Made In India Mini Van Goes International

Nissan's executive vice president Andy Palmer said: “We will launch the passenger-carrying vehicle, or the mini-van if you prefer, some time next year. We will produce around 55,000 units. We wish to export 20 percent of this to nearby markets."
Nissan has said it would export its mini van to neighbouring markets. It has attributed the successful development and production of the Dost to Ashok Leyland. It said it would not have been able to build the Dost at a lower cost without the expertise of the Indian truck maker.
Nissan's minivan is expected to be built on the same platform used in the Dost. There have been reports that the mini van will be the NV200 that is already being sold in Europe and the Americas. Launched in 2009 as a light commercial vehicle, Nissan also developed the passenger carrying variant soon. The Nissan NV200 has been received well in all markets. Nissan is also planning to develop an electric variant of the NV200.
Nissan is looking to increase local content in its commercial vehicles as it does with the Micra small car. Further it is also planning to build an engine and transmission building plants in India. Nissan is aiming to become the world's largest manufacturer of light commercial vehicles. The company along with its partners sold 850, light commercial vehicles last year and is aiming to sell more than one million units this year.
