Maruti SX 4 Diesel From Next Month

Maruti Suzuki said the diesel version of its SX4 will be on launch next month and will come with the Fiat-sourced 90bhp, 1.3 multi-jet diesel engine. This engine is similar in power of Indigo Manza and Linea and SX4 may weigh less by 70kg for delivering enhanced performance and economy.

The hatchback SX4 in Europe has Fiat"s 1.9 lit diesel engines but in India it is 1.3 multi-jet due to the practical utility value. This is the engine fitted by Maruti in its Swift and Dzire yet with the Variable Geometry Turbo. Maruti is on the high note to counter its competitors with any means particularly in diesel mid-size versions. The segment has the strong presence of Vento from Volkswagen making a deep cut for Maruti.

Hence Maruti is fixing the reduced cost strategy for its diesel version of SX4, probably by Rs1 lakh. This would translate the cost of SX4 diesel to Rs6.99 lakh which may be Rs10000 more than the current petrol version.
