WagonR Takes Maruti Suzuki On High!
Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Chief General Manager (Marketing) Shashank Srivastava said that it is a very proud moment for the company and it gives more happiness because this milestone has been achieved in the domestic market. Next to Alto, WagonR is the second highest selling car in the country. He added that with the launch of the new WagonR, sales have grown for the model. Currently, the company is selling about 15,000 units per month. Every month, model Alto accounts for over 30,000 units sales.
And the company had invested Rs 290 crore prior to introduction of the new WagonR that is currently priced between Rs 3.36 lakh and Rs 4.24 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). But the company does not export the hatchback and also there is no plan for that. Currently, MSI sells the 998-cc car in petrol, CNG and LPG variants. In 2010-11, the company sold 1.63 lakh units of the WagonR.
During the last financial year, the company achieved the fastest growth. Further, the WagonR competes with some of the newly launched models which include the Chevrolet Beat, Ford Figo, Hyundai i10 and Volkswagen Polo.
