Maruti Suzuki Set To Unveil New Swift

New Swift
Maruti Suzuki will unveil the much anticipated new Swift hatchback tomorrow, August 17th in Mumbai. The carmaker will launch the Swift at a grand ceremony at The Lalit. The event will be attended by several dignitaries from the automotive sector.

Shinzo Nakanishi, Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited will formally unveil the new Swift. The launch is scheduled at 7 PM tomorrow and we at oneindia will be providing you updates and titbits before, during and after the launch.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift is one of the most popular hatchbacks in India. The Swift revitalised Maruti Suzuki's image in India with its peppy looks and power-packed performance. The Swift DZire, the sedan version of the Swift has been India's best selling sedan despite its looks being slightly awkward.

Maruti Suzuki did not publicise the launch of the Swift initially. It only said the launch would be held in August. It stopped the production of the current Swift more than a month ago and started building the new variant.

In a smart publicity move the carmaker allowed people who had booked the current Swift a choice of moving to the new model. This created a lot of buzz even before the launch of the new Swift. We had earlier reported that bookings for the new Swift had crossed 38,000 units in early August. Maruti Suzuki has not revealed the latest bookings figure for the new Swift.

The new Swift is not greatly different from the current model in terms of design and looks. It is slightly larger ( 40mm longer ) with more interior space and has an engine tuned to deliver performance while being fuel efficient.
