Maruti Suzuki May Sales Increase By 1.9%

Sales of the Maruti 800 have declined sharply in May to 2,262 units marking a 11.6 per cent drop. Sales of the A2 segment which consists of Alto, A-Star, Swift, Ritz and Wagon-R also declined by 2.6 per cent to 61,048 units. Cars in the A3 segment - the Swift Dzire and SX4 were able to register a 24.2 per cent increase in sales to 13,514 units.
Maruti Suzuki Sold 50 Kizashi sedans in May this year. This new sedan is being imported as a fully built unit from Japan. The company also imports the Grand Vitara SUV. Maruti Suzuki India's total passenger car sales increased by 1 per cent to 76,874 units in May as against the 76,120 units sold in the same month of 2010. Maruti Suzuki's May sales are a clear indication of the impact of increasing petrol prices on car sales in India.
