Maruti Suzuki To Launch Innova Rival With RIII MPV

Maruti Suzuki will soon launch its first MPV in India with the RIII. The Maruti Suzuki RIII was first unveiled at the Previous 2010 Auto Expo held in New Delhi. The RIII was still a concept then with futuristic rear hinged doors and an impressive interior. It is the first car from Maruti Suzuki to have been developed entirely in India. The car is aimed at large families

The RIII has now emerged from its concept phase with a toned down design and more conventional doors. Maruti has built the car on the Swift's platform. The frontal design is very much similar to the Swift and the Ritz. With three rows of seats the RIII is ideal for a family of five or more people. Maruti Suzuki has extended the wheel base of the RIII to 2740mm to accommodate more interior space.

The Maruti Suzuki RIII is also expected to get the same interior treatment as seen in the soon to be launched new Swift. As far s the technical details are concerned, the RIII will be powered y an all new K14 petrol engine. Maruti Suzuki might also add a Fiat designed diesel engine that has been used in the SX4 to the new MPV.

The Maruti Suzuki RIII is expected to be priced between 8 and 10 lakhs. The RII will be competing with the Toyota Innova and the Chevrolet Tavera.
