Maruti Suzuki Gained A Major Hike In Labor Imputs

A blessing in disguise has occurred to the India"s top most car maker, Maruti Suzuki with the labor input yielding it Rs160 crore profit. The company benefited this out of the measures suggested by the company"s labors by which there was an increase of efficiency and saving of money, said its managing executive officer. In a note of reciprocity, the company has disbursed rewards by way appreciation letters, movie tickets, family vacations and dinner coupons, he said. He said the saving in the previous fiscal was Rs200 crore achieved by the special drives mooted by the apex body in Japan and the subsidiaries.

The number of suggestions received in 2010 was 2.29 lakh against 1.29 lakh in the previous year, he added. He mentioned that there has been suggestions from all corners from meager to major level and the company has announced due reward for such suggestions. He said the company has no fear of labor unrest and legal disputes because of overall transparency. He made it clear that the engaging of the labors do not warrant any dispute from the workforce.

The lone occasion when the labors resorted to strike was almost a decade ago which resulted in the reduction of production. The company has been making all out efforts to keep the workforce in tact by offering any means of appreciation. In 2009-10 the company presented a gold coin to its 8600 employees to commemorate the one millionth unit of sales. He said the company is for creating , maintaining and retaining cordial relationship with the employees to make a peaceful move. He said there won"t be any unsavory reactions to any sort of wrong doings from the employees.

The situation in MSI camp is quite contrary to the ones prevailed in GM and other makers which resulted the financial loss. The strike in its Halol facility has entered its 23rd day making a production loss of 1200 units as of now.
