Maruti , Tata Motors and Hyundai Markets 'Shaken'!

The Indian car market has got many new entrants in recent years and some of the global players have penetrated the market to their best. This venture has resulted with the top domestic players like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors losing their due share to the smaller companies, said SIAM. The beneficiaries in the event are companies like Ford, GM and Volkswagen. Maruti has slipped its share to 48.74% from its previous 50.09% in the last fiscal while its domestic sale volume stood at 966447 units in 2010-11, a rise from 765533 units in the previous fiscal. The net volume in the last fiscal was a rise by 29.73% with 1982702 units against 1528337 units in the previous fiscal. The share of Hyundai too saw the fall to 18.10% from 20.61% in the previous fiscal with the sale volume of 358904 units in the 2010-11 from 3 14967 units in the period 2009-10.

The share of Tata Motors fell to 12.92% with the sale of 256202 units in 2010-11 from its 13.18% with 201399 units in the previous year. The share ratio of General Motors and Honda Siel Cars too fell during the said fiscal with GM losing its share from 4.62% to 4.40% as HSCI witnessed the fall from 4.01% to 2.97% in 2010-11. The major beneficiaries in the share are Ford (Figo) and Volkswagen(Polo) as Ford could muster the sale of 95395 units in 2010-11 from 34324 units in the previous fiscal making the rise in the market share from 2.25% to 4.81%. The conditions in the camp of VW too are prosperous with the rise of share from 0.27% to 2.60% with the sale of 51608 units in 2010-11 from 4094 units in the previous fiscal. The achievement came from its Polo and Vento units as the entire passenger car segment received some 24new models and 40 refined version in the bygone fiscal, said the President of SIAM.
