Maruti Achieves Million In 10 Months

India"s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki has scaled the one million mark in the first ten months of the financial year. This comes after it reached the same mark in the previous single year. The sale volume during April-December 2010 stood at 927655 units comprising domestic and export units. The mark as on January 5 this year, the volume is 73874 units without the export units. This accounts for the one million in the single financial year, said the maruti official. The cumulative export volume for the same period of ten months stood at 10,01,529 units. Maruti"s contribution to the global volume is more than 50% and the net sale volume for 2009-10 is 10,18,365 units.

The current fiscal too is promising with more volumes especially during October and November with the monthly volume of domestic sale crossing one lakh units. Maruti is erecting its third plant at its Manesar facility to deliver the demand. This facility has the capacity of 2.5 lakh annual units and the investment has been Rs1925 crore. The second plant was installed at an investment of Rs1700 crore with the annual capacity of 2.5 lakh units. This second facility will be operational from the next year while the third facility slated for late 2012 or 2013. Maruti shares 54.2% in Suzuki with the Gurgaon facility yielding 85000 units and Manesar facility 350000 annual units making the net tally to 1200000 annual units.
