Will Mahindra Launch Global SUV By September?

The Mahindra Global SUV or the W201 is one model that has had a long gestation period. Reports of Mahindra's W201 have been doing the rounds in the internet and finally there appears to be an end to the uncertainty around the global SUV. Autocar India in its website has reported that Mahindra could launch the W201 in September this year. According to the report Mahindra has already informed its dealers to prepare for the launch of the global SUV.

The closeness of the launch of the W201 became more clear after sightings of a fully undisguised version of the SUV. Rge W201 is expected to be priced in the range of Rs.13-15 lakhs Mahindra is expected to load its global SUV with several new features such as ESP, traction control and hill descent control. The SUV specialist is expected to launch both the four-wheel-drive and two-wheel-drive versions on the same day.

The W201 will be powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine capable of generating 204bhp and more than 300Nm of torque. While the initial model is expected to be equipped with a cable actuated manual gear box we expect an automatic gearbox to be made available soon. Considering the W201 will be Mahindra's global SUV it can be considered prudent that it will get an automatic gearbox as most American drivers prefer it.
