M&M To Bring Only SUVs From Ssangyong

By By: Vicky.in

Mahindra & Mahindra, the Indian utility major"s last collaboration with French auto major Renault to bring a sedan was not successful. Currently, it is said that it will not drive in any Ssangyong car to India or expand its car portfolio as it needs to concentrate on becoming a global sport utility vehicle major.

Rajesh Jejurikar, head of automotive business operations of Mahindra & Mahindra said that there's no immediate plan to have a car strategy and the focus is to drive a global SUV strategy. The company feels that it is apt to have a single car in a portfolio of SUVs. Also it is said that the Mumbai-based utility vehicle major's only passenger car brand will be Verito, the relaunched version of its entry-level sedan, Logan. And it will launch a small car under the Verito brand.

Further, South Korean firm, which was bought by Mahindra will drive the company's global SUV strategy. M&M's utility vehicle plan will take in bringing Ssangyong's products-Rexton and Korando C-into the Indian market.
And the strategy has ruled out the addition of Ssangyong's hi-end sedan, Chairman, into M&M's passenger vehicle portfolio.

Jejurikar added that the Chairman is a left hand drive. The company will modify the product for the Indian and global markets if there is a need for the product in the global markets.
