Mahindra’s Premium Car For Ssangyong

The formal and smooth acquisition of Ssangyong deals has made the Indian auto giant Mahindra & Mahindra to expand its operation further. As a part of its operation, M&M is to devise a premium car for the Korean car company and will be ready by another 12-18 months. Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is in possession of 70% stake from Ssangyong, which it got at the cost of Rs2105 crore.

The company strives to retain the brand equity of Ssangyong and to ensure stable financial flow to have a long run partnership, said the Mahindra"s MD and Vice-Chairman. He said the company is making a viability study for introducing Ssangyong products in India for which there will be a premium car in another one or two years.

Since the Korean company is very optimistic of such move, M&M is observing the feasibility study on full scale, he added. He said the company is exploring the possible location for setting up proper plants for productions quoting the stress on localization. He said the proposed car w ill meet the local standards and expectations at retaining the premium labeling. He said the company has been facing challenge with regard to maintaining the brand image among the customers. The Korean people, he said, are conscious of their own products and with 80% of the cars in Korea to be of local made, they deem it as a pride.
