Mahindra Logan To Be Verito Soon

Mahindra & Mahindra has stated that it will rename the 'Logan' sedan as 'Verito' since it is more than a year it has broken its joint venture with Renault and removed the French automaker's badge completely from the entry level sedan. Mahindra said that they are delighted to say that the Logan will now be called the Verito and it will sport the Mahindra badge and emblem.

As of now, the Logan is available in both petrol and diesel variants in a price between Rs 4.67 lakh and Rs 6.47 lakh (ex-showroom). In April 2010, M&M and Renault had agreed to part ways from their joint venture which was Mahindra Renault Pvt Ltd and it was formed in 2005 to make and sell the Logan in India as the car failed to meet expectations. For an undisclosed amount, M&M had agreed to buy out the French automaker's 49 per cent stake in the JV.

But, the French auto major has agreed to keep on supporting M&M and Logan through a licence agreement and supplying key components, including the engine and transmission. For 18 months, M&M could use the Logan brand after which it was to drop the entire French automaker's badge from the product as well as dealerships.
