Mahindra and Mahindra will soon launch two new variants of the Verito sedan along with a new SUV this financial year. Pawan Goenka, the president of Mahindra and Mahindra said the carmaker would launch a refreshed version of the Verito and also launch a smaller version which will be in the sub-four metre in length.

Mahindra is also developing a global SUV that is expected to be launched in December this year. Mahindra also owns the Korean SUV specialist Ssangyong. Engineers from the Korean carmaker have already studied the global SUV to make improvements.

Ssangyong which was suffering a steep fall in sales has managed to sell 55,000 units this year. Mahindra has set Ssangyong a sales target of 1.25 lakh units for this year. Mahindra which will invest further $250 million in Ssangyong intends to launch its models in India.

The Ssangyong Rexton and Korando are the likely models to be launched in India. These two models will be imported as completely knocked down (CKD) units and will be assembled at Mahindra's Chakan plant in Maharashtra.

The Mahindra Verito, the re-badged version of the Mahindra Renault Logan has been fairly successful in terms of sales. The Verito was launched after Mahindra's joint venture with Mahindra ended.
