Mahindra and Mahindra sales gain 29% in June

Mahindra and Mahindra's domestic sales increased by 28.69% after it sold 33,772 vehicles as against the 26,243 units it sold in the corresponding period last year. Total passenger vehicle sales which include Scorpio, Xylo, Bolero and Verito, stood at 16,053 units registering a 20.55 per cent increase.
In a surprising development sales of the Verito sedan increased more than two folds in June. Mahindra said sales of the Verito stood at 1,510 units as against the 563 units it sold in the same month a year ago. Mahindra launched the Renault Logan as the Verito after its joint venture with Renault ended.
M and M Chief Executive (Automotive Division) Rajesh Jejurikar said: "We are happy with the 29% growth that we have clocked in June, given the pressures of increasing interest rates and commodity prices."
Mahindra and Mahindra's three wheeler division also reported improved sales in June. The company in its statement said it sold 5,149 units of the Gio and Maxximo mini-trucks from 4,811 units it sold during the same month last year.
M and M's four-wheeler commercial vehicle sales increased by a massive 65.02 per cent after it sold 11,560 units from the previous June's 7,005 units. Light commercial vehicle sales from Mahindra Navistar Automotives Ltd during the month stood at 1,010 units as against 1,111 units in the same month a year ago, a fall of 9.09 per cent.
Mahindra and Mahindra's exports during June also rose 37.38% to 1,812 units from 1,319 units during June 2010.
