Luxury Car Sales Increase in June

The India luxury car segment is dominated by three German brands – Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi. While Mercedes has established itself as a premium brand more than a decade ago, BMW managed to steal its top spot by its aggressive marketing and pricing strategies. Audi, the Volkswagen owned luxury carmaker has made a niche for itself in the luxury SUV sector. All these carmakers were attracted to the growing Indian car market and here are details about how each of them performed in the month of June.

Mercedes-Benz's June sales indicate a steady growth. It sold 565 models registering a 58 per cent growth. This has been Mercedes-Benz's best sales performance in June. The Mercedes-Benz E-class was the best performer for the carmaker with 231 sales.

BMW, India's leading luxury car seller has also reported record breaking sales for June.BMW sold a total of 890 vehicles. The BMW X1 mini SUV was the German carmaker's best selling car with 403 sales. Sales of other BMW models are as follows: 3-Series 163 units, 5-Series 246 units, 7-Series 30, 6-Series 3, X5 17, X6 14, Z4 3.

Audi India, as we previously reported, has registered a 75 per cent increase in June sales after selling 408 cars. Audi India which is behind both BMW and Mercedes-Benz in the luxury car sector is aiming to sell 5,000 cars this year. With an increasing portfolio of models, Audi is aiming to boost its presence in India.
