Land Rover To Launch New Discovery 4, Range Rover

The 2012 Discovery 4 and Range Rover Sport will be equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission that will pe paired with three-litre diesel engine. The eight-speed transmission will offer smooth performance along with improved fuel economy.
The Discovery 4 will carry a price tag of £37,995 or Rs.27 lakhs while the more expensive Range Rover Sport will cost £48,795.
In a statement to the media, Land Rover UK Managing Director Colin Green said: “Improved performance, lower CO2 emissions and enhanced design and equipment levels consolidate the Discovery 4's position as the most capable and versatile all-purpose vehicle on and off the road today. The Discovery 4 is quite simply in a class of its own."
The new three-litre engine is expected to reduce carbon emissions. The current engine emits 244 grams of CO2 per kilometre while the new engine is expected to emit 230 grams.
Land rover believes the new 2012 Range Rover Sport will ensure its position as the maker of one of the most economical high performance SUVs in the market today.
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) had earlier reported that it had begun production of the Evoque in the UK. The much awaited model has already received 18,000 advance bookings from across the world. JLR had increased its workforce to more than 3,000 employees so that deliveries of the Evoque, of which 75 per cent of the production will be exported to over 170 countries, will not be affected.
JLR said the Evoque was just the first of the 40 models that the British car brands intend to launch in the next five years.
