Jaguar Land Rover, A Major Job Creator By 2013

When Tata Motors acquired the sickly running Jaguar Land Rover, the company was in a vain to lay off many of its personnel to save money. The move was greeted with venom from the labor segment and the scene is gradually changing now. There has been a consistent growth of the car"s sale yielding reasonable margins. Hence Tata Motors is planning on hiring 2000 personnel in another two years. In another move, Jaguar Land Rover is enhancing its headcount by 11% spread worldwide with 400 people slated for UK this year and the process of hiring 280 graduates out of 6500 applications, has been completed.

With the current strength of the employees standing at 18000 the company is intended to increase its hiring process to 20000 in another two years. The Halewood manufacturing facility has got additional 1500 staff to involve in manufacturing Range Rover Evoque units, slated for launch this year. The increase in personnel is aimed to release the new products mentioned for this year and the 280 graduates will be spread to finance, marketing, manufacturing, development engineering, IT and purchase. Tata Motors said it is unleashing 1 billion euro for the JLR activities and the Director for Jaguar Land Rover was quoted as saying that the huge investments are directed towards research and development of new products and technologies.

He added that the investments will turn Jaguar Land Rover as the most innovative and world class manufacturer of luxury cars. Evoque will be followed by Land Rover"s first diesel hybrid SUV in 2013. This reminds the last year"s launch of a concept car able to run 900 km at a single charge and capable of running at 320km/hr speed. There has been a marginal increase in the sale of Jaguar Land Rover by which it could muster Rs1958 as profit after tax during October -December 2010.
