Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), the British premium car brand owned by Tata Motors has opened its new dealership in Kolkota . The new dealership is part of Jaguar Land Rover's continued expansion in the Indian car market. West Bengal customers can now get easy access to Jaguar and Land Rover cars. The dealership will offer sales, servicing and after sales support.

Jaguar Land Rover's Kolkota dealership will facilitate customers to access the complete range of Jaguar products including the XJ (in both diesel and petrol engine variants), XF (in both diesel and petrol engine variants), XFR and the XKR Coupe and Convertible. As far as Land Rover car are concerned, the dealership will feature the Freelander 2, Discovery 4, Range Rover Sport and the flagship Range Rover.

Rohit Suri, Head, Premier Car Division, Tata Motors, said: “The Kolkota area is a key growth market for premium luxury vehicles and thus it is extremely important for our sought after Jaguar and Land Rover products to be readily available in this region. We are very pleased to be able to provide our customers with a great dealership here in Kolkota."

Jaguar Land Rover opened its first showroom in india in 2009. The British car brands have established dealerships in Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Kolkota . The car brands want to make India their second largest market and have undertaken an aggressive expansion plan to establish dealerships in Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Ludhiana, Ahmedabad, Pune, Jaipur and Indore by the end 2011.

JLR was acquired by Tata Motors in 2008, just before the beginning of the global economic crisis. JLR's sales dropped drastically during the recession. Tata Motors invested billions of pounds in its newly acquired brands despite its lacklustre performance. The company used the investments to develop new products such as the Range Rover Evoque which has become a rage in the international market. With JLR's global sales increasing the carmaker has focused on the world's fastest growing car market in a big way.

BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi have established themselves as India's highest selling luxury car brands. JLR is keen to at least reach the second spot by 2013. India's leading luxury carmaker BMW has also acknowledged JLR's competition by stating that it was competing with Jaguar and Land Rover and not Mercedes-Benz. JLR has also started local production in India. By increasing local production and local procurement of parts, JLR intends to reduce prices and boost sales.
