Indian Auto Sales 2010

Almost every player in the auto sector has reaped a vast amount of returns in the calendar year 2010. The Korean car maker Hyundai Motor is the one to be blessed with a sale growth of 23.1% in the domestic market though it faced a fall in its export market by 8.5%. In all the company could muster a combined sale volume of 6,03,819 units of which the domestic market constituted 356717 units and the export market with 247102 units. This made a rise of 7.8% against its sale in 2009 - 559880 units of which the domestic market"s share is 289863 units and 270017 units of export market. Hyundai Motor's director for marketing stated that the year happened to be a record creating one with the tremendous response in the industry. This has been the first time, he added, that the company clinched the 6,00,000 unit mark since its entry into the Indian market.

In December 2010, Hyundai's sale volume stood at 47,228 units with 26,168 units in domestic market and 21060 units in export market. This is a hike from its previous year"s performance of 47217 units of combined 22252 units in domestic market and 24965 units in export market. The categorized sale volume for its models is - its SUV Santa Fe -102 units, A2 segment comprising Santro, i10 and i20 with 42397 units, A3 segment with Verna Transform and Accent having 4708 units and its A5 segment of Sonata Transform sold just 21 units. The sale volume for Ford India during the said period stood at 83887 units making a rise from its previous year"s 29488 units. With its latest launch Figo making a good road the net sale volume hit 60000 units mark in the calendar year. The company"s MD and President boasted that the company faced a tremendous show of triple growth in 2010 making a growth of.

Toyota Kirloskar made a deep impact with a growth of 38% in the year by selling 74759 units which was 54320 units in 2009. The volume got much hike due to its diverse launches including Etios sedan and the showcase of its Liva hatchback. The company"s official hinted that the commercial launch of this Liva would secure more business from April 2011. The brand image too would rise to the new horizons, he added. To add more charm and enthusiasm for the customers Toyota has just resumed the bookings for its SUV Fortuner after the suspension in July last.

General Motors had a good niche of sale in the year by making a growth of 59% by cumulative sale of 110804 units from its 69579 units in 2009. The sale for the company in December was 8468 units from its 8258 units in December 2009. The split up figures for these volumes are - 2523 units of Beat, 1694 units of Tavera, 2691 units of Spark, 623 units of Cruze, 288 units of Optra, 271 units of Aveo U-VA, and 120 units of Captiva. In the two wheeler segment TVS clinched the sale figure with 42% growth from its show in December 2009.
