Hyundai's Sale Volume Down By 17.7%

The second largest car maker in India, Hyundai Motor posted a decreased sale volume for the month of January 2011. The rise in sale volume has been by 17.7% with 43316 units against 52628 units of January 2010. However this had not affected the domestic market for Hyundai as it sold 30306 units making a rise by 2.4% against 29601 units of the same month of the previous year.

Hyundai had a bad stint in export market with a fall of 43.5% with 13,010 units against 23027 units of January 2010. Hyundai"s A2 segment - i10, i20 and Santro- constituted a sale volume of 39343 units as its A3 segment - Verna and Accent- saw sale of 3957 units. The A5 segment having Sonata Transform could see just 11 new owners and the SUV Santa Fe was with 5 units. Hyundai"s Director for marketing and sale indicated that the sale of the small cars has been constant and hopes are there to carry on the tempo in the domestic market. He cautioned that the increase percentage may come down from double digit to single digit.
