Hyundai Verna Zooms Past City And Vento

The new Hyundai Fluidic Verna is now the segment leader in the mid-sized sedan market after registering 10,303 sales in the second quarter of this year. The performance of the new Verna is significant considering that Hyundai had sold 5,338 units in the second quarter of last year. Its closest competitor was the Volkswagen Vento which registered sales of 7,726 units.
Speaking about the enormous success of the Fluidic Verna, Hyundai Motor India Director – Sales and marketing Arvind Saxena said: “The new Verna is produced only for the domestic market. We"ve got an overwhelming response from our customers, which has helped us clock over 24,000 bookings so far."
The Fluidic Verna has been Hyundai's best looking model in many years. Available with a variety of engine and trim options the sedan can cater the requirements of a wide variety of people. With booking far exceeding expectations, Hyundai had to beef up production to meet demand.
The Honda City, Once India's leading mid sized sedan had to be satisfied with the third spot behind the Volkswagen Vento. Honda has recovered some sales by offering discounts of up to Rs.66,000. The carmaker sold 2,802 units in June this year as against the 1,828 units sold in the corresponding period last year marking a 53 per cent increase.
