Constitution Of Apex Body On Hybrid Vehicles

The Indian government is scheduling its move to constitute two high-level bodies on policy framing for hybrid vehicles and electric version vehicles. These industries largely depend on the import of fuel for the automobile applications. There are reports that National Council for Electric Mobility will act as a political forum under the head of Heavy Industries Minister.

A junior level body will be constituted at the executive level to be named as National Board for Electric Mobility. These two bodies are expected to be set up in a couple of days, said the joint secretary of Department of Heavy Industries as the proposal has already been ratified by the Cabinet. He assured that the green vehicle concept will be promoted with the direct or indirect subsidy. He asserted the need for an alternative fuel which is duly filled in by hybrid and electric versions. The oil import has accounted for .17 billion out of the net import of 4 billion as the country gets 75% of the crude oil from the import.
