Honda Motors Reducing Indian Production!

Honda Motor's Indian subsidiary, the Japanese automobile chief said that it will decrease the production of its car models in the country by 50 percent due to constraints in supply of parts from Japan.

Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice president (marketing and sales), Honda Siel Cars India Ltd said that they are experiencing gaps in our supply chain due to the situation in Japan, resulting in production cuts. From May month, the company would move to single shift operations. And the company was making all possible efforts to restore normal production after July. Also, the company plan to get back to normal production as soon as supplies normalize.

In Japan, the production of components and vehicles at Honda plants is at approximately 50 percent of the original production after the country was hit by a catastrophic earthquake and tsunami March 11. At restarting production, most of Japan-based Honda suppliers are making progress.

Further, Honda is working with its suppliers to assist re-establish their operations and evaluating other possible sources for those parts in its supply chain.

Sandeep Singh, deputy managing director (marketing), Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd has said that it may be difficult to avoid the inconvenience caused to customers and the company deeply apologize for the same and will try to minimize any delivery delays.

Between April 25 and June 4, production at the company's two plants in Bangalore will be suspended on Mondays and Fridays.
