Honda Wants Its City Sedan Back!

By By: Vicky.in

The new year started in a gloom for Honda Siel Cars India as it had to recall its City sedan numbering about 57853units due to defective engine component. This comes for the units of November 2008 - December 2009 period and still it is a preventive measure, said the company.

The statement from the company said the move is to replace the lost motion springs in a proactive manner. This part has the fault of rocker arm hit compression which is prone to damage the normal engine with more noise and even engine standstill. Honda is to do this recall by replacing the spring positioned at the valve train at free of cost. The owners of cars belonging to this period are being duly informed about this. In addition the dealers have been instructed to stock this new component for instant replacements.

Already Honda had recalled its models ranging from Fit, City and Freed numbering about 693497 units globally for this same defect. The replacement process is carried out by Honda motor company on behalf of HSCI in a bid to carry on the global standards. At the sametime, the company clarified that the replacement scheme cannot be availed by the owners of Jazz, which has similar replacement process in certain countries worldwide. The reason cited for this exemption is that such model is not in sale in India, along with Fit and Jazz equipped with 1.5L i-VTEC engine. The cars with this engine is not available in India.
